Shibari縛り
Japanese word broadly meaning "binding" or "tying"; the most common Western name for Japanese rope bondage since the 1990s.
In most Japanese contexts shibari simply means “binding” or “tying”. Its use for rope bondage became popular in the West during the 1990s. Some Western practitioners now use shibari for purely aesthetic rope and kinbaku for the practice as a whole.
