Osaka monthly magazine (1947–1975) whose sadomasochistic stories, drawings and photographs helped popularize Japanese bondage in the 1950s.
Kitan Club — literally “Strange Story Club” — was a monthly pulp magazine based in Osaka and published from 1947 to 1975.
From 1952 its pages turned increasingly to sadomasochism, with stories, illustrations and photography that included bondage imagery, and that coverage helped Japanese bondage reach a wider audience over the course of the 1950s. The artists Namio Harukawa and John Willie contributed to it, and its editor Minomura Kou (also known as Kita Reiko) led its turn toward fetish content.
